“We, the football department of ESV Olympia Köln, are planning a sustainable renewal of our floodlight system. Switching to LED is essential for trainings and matches and means a significant reduction in our CO2 emissions.”
For several years now, we in the ESV Olympia football department have been engaged to renew our floodlight system at our Gleisdreieck. The old floodlights are not only outdated and do not illuminate the football pitch sufficiently, they are also very cost-intensive and no longer up to date from an ecological point of view. Switching to LED means a significant reduction in the associated CO2 emissions.
Good illumination of the pitch is essential for all trainings and matches, for our players and also for the spectators. With LEDs, colors come into their own and movements are better perceived. LED lighting is significantly more efficient, more uniform and brighter and has a service life of over 75,000 hours. LEDs are also robust and low-maintenance.
By reducing scattered light, adjacent natural areas are less polluted and LEDs also have an insect-friendly light color - an active contribution to greater species protection. The warmer the light color, the less it attracts nocturnal insects.
We are receiving a grant from the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Protection of 25% of the total expenses for the necessary conversion.
