Since March 2022 we are traveling weekly to #Ukraine to distribute food donations and bring refugees and their animals to safety. We are building quarantine places in HU/UA in order to be able to accommodate as many animals as possible from war zone
As always, those who can do the least are also the ones who suffer the most.  The attack on Ukraine, which began on February 24, 2022, has plunged not only millions of people into deep suffering, but also animals.  No matter whether it is large animals left behind such as cattle, sheep or goats or pets such as dogs, cats, hamsters or guinea pigs.  In addition to the privately kept animals, the animal shelters are of course also cut off from all supplies and threatened by bombs, looting and other violence.  Since the beginning of the war, we have been researching and planning how we, together with our partner organizations Tiernotruf.de and Tierheim-Dormagen.de, can best help the animals in Ukraine.  We were able to rely on Timm and his wife Viki with their association VagabonDog and their transport service HappyDoxx, with whom we have been working in Hungary for more than 10 years, to provide indispensable support in the on-site research.  We deliberately refrained from leaving spontaneously so as not to be unprepared and get in the way on site, tie up capacity there and/or have to leave again without having accomplished anything due to a lack of information.  Since this was not going to be a flash in the pan, but rather the foundation was to be laid for implementing sustainable support for the animals in Ukraine, we had already organized a storage facility near the border in advance.  From there the relief supplies will be taken across the Ukrainian border and on the way back the animals from the animal shelters and of course the refugees who bring their animals with them will be brought back.  Since our first convoy at the beginning of March, the Notpfote board has been on site every other weekend...  What else are we currently collecting donations for?  Dry food can still be dropped off at the collection point of our animal shelter in Dormagen.  All other donations in kind are problematic in our areas of operation.  Financial support is most helpful and is used for  Feed transport  Expansion of quarantine places  Renting/converting an aid warehouse  Supporting Ukrainian animal rights activists  Covering the costs for the Ukrainian dogs that are in the Hungarian animal shelter  Laboratory, veterinary and transport costs for the animals' journey to Germany  Building an SOS animal shelter according to modern standards
